Library books need to be in school daily as we have Year 5 Reading partner who read with the children every afternoon.
We will change Library books once per fortnight as we would like you to practice the RWI sound cards daily at home. Please complete a task in your child’s library journal so we see you have shared the book together and we can reward all their efforts at home.
Read, Write Inc.
Please use the Read, Write Inc sound cards provided with your child daily. FS2 children need to know the first 16 sounds (m, a, s, d, t, i, n, p, g, o, c, k, u, b, f, e) by October half-term. You can listen how to say the pure sounds here.
Play dough, Snack and Baking
A weekly contribution of £1 helps us ensure we have toast during registration daily fresh play dough each week, a variety of food for snack and baking, including hot chocolate for the forest.
Our PE days are Tuesday and Wednesday. Children can leave their PE bags on their pegs and we will send them home each half-term.
Our forest day is usually Thursday. Please send children dressed in clothing ready for the forest. We will inform you if there is a change to our forest time depending on our curriculum. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for regular updates.
We use an online course of thirty-six videos containing poems with actions, these include many lesser-known children's rhymes from anonymous authors and support children's reading skills. If you do not already have a Poetry Basket account ask for our discount code so you can access the resources for free using the link below.
If children know eight nursery rhymes by heart, by the time they are four years old, they're usually among the best readers by the time they are eight.
FS2 parents can view your child's observations and assessments using our Early Essence website, use the link below and your username and password.
