WOW Wednesdays!

Whilst our lovely Year 4's go swimming the Year 3 and Year 5's join together to explore Art. So far they have loved the projects that we have done.

Project 1 - The Dot!

For our first project we explored a story called The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds. Before we listened to the story, we explored colour and different implements. The children discussed primary colours and how we can make secondary colours. They then decided that poster paint was much better to mix with even though it took a while to dry.

We then enjoyed the story of The Dot, created our own primary dots before creating a dot without actually drawing one. From this we became creative, we explored what a black dot could be! The children came up with lots of ideas.... alien's eye, bowling ball, bike wheel, centre of a flower, a fish eye, a fly and even a plug hole! Our artwork is up on display outside our classrooms.

Project 2 - Weaving

Our second project that we have started is weaving. We began our project by exploring repeating patterns which we then used this understanding on our looms. Once we had an understanding of how to weave, then we moved onto our final stage of our project. We began this stage by designing a landscape of where we would find a tree. We transported this image onto a paper plate and painted it.

More coming soon ......
