Help our Hedgehogs

image

You can help look after hedgehogs that come into your garden.

Leave out foods like tinned dog or cat food (not fish-based) and crushed dog or cat biscuits.

Never feed hedgehogs milk as it can cause diarrhoea; instead provide plain, fresh water in a shallow bowl.

Don't use slug pellets or other chemicals as this will poison other wildlife.

We had a visit from

Oggles Hedgehog Rescue and Rehabilitation centre in Dewsbury

They told us how to help our wild hedgehogs.

Specialist hedgehog food is also recommended and can be bought from wildlife food suppliers.

If you have a bonfire please check before you light it as hedgehogs like to nest in loose leaves and wood piles.

image

Don't leave black sacks out in your garden as this could suffocate hedgehogs.
