Christmas Begins!
We had a great time in the forest today, we gathered lots of different sized sticks to make our very own Christmas trees.
The children brought back their sticks and we laid them on the tarpoline. We talked about the sizes of them and the shape that the Christmas tree should be.
The children used some fabulous maths vocabulary to describe their sticks and make comparisons to others.
Once the children were happy with the position of the sticks, we used string to fasten them all together before hanging it in their chosen tree.
The children explored teh forest to find things to decorate the tree.
They talked about the animals in the forest and decided that the birds would enjoy the berries that were found.
The children used string/reeds to fasten around the fat balls before hanging them on the tree like baubles.
We had a treat today, Mrs Shaw lit a fire in the fire pit and we had toasted marshmallows!
We remembered the fire pit rules, we climbed over the bench and sat down safely. We listened to the crackle of the fire and noticed the smoke blowing around.
The children watched carefully as the marshmallows changed colour.
Our hot chocolate and marshmallows must have smelt good as we even had a quick visit from a hedgehog this afternoon!
We were quiet enough to see him snuffling around looking for some insects in the grass.
