Metalliform Visits 13.3.15 and 20.3.15

We walked up to Metalliform in Hoyland to take a tour of the factory.

We had to put on hi-vis vests to ensure our safety in the factory. Can you remember the factory rules?

The first things we saw were how table tops are made.

We saw lots of different machines and tools, some of them were quite loud and we had to put our hands over our ears.

Can you remember what the machine in the pictures below made for us?

What was the job of this machine?

The man was using a gun type tool to spray....

We saw how the metal was bent and shaped to form legs for the table tops. We then saw the different parts of the table being assembled and packed ready to be delivered to different schools around the country.

We watched as the parts of chairs were assembled.

It was soon time to get back to school, we now have a better understanding of where our school furniture comes from and how they are made just on our doorstep!

Mr Watson was the strongest one with us and he carried our new sign all the way back to school!

Thank you Metalliform!
