Zebra's War time experience

The Zany Zebras went to Kelham Island for a wartime experience.

The air raid siren sounded so we all had to go in the Anderson shelter until the bombing stopped.

It was really dark.

We were very busy at the train station trying to return left luggage to their owners.

The evacuees learnt how to put a gas helmet on the baby.

We had to learn how to spot enemy planes.

The children heard stories from women of what it was like to work in a munitions factory.

The children broke secret codes to reveal messages sent by the enemy.

They all became part of the home gaurd where they had to put fires out and go on patrol.

We took part in a radio programme.
