Week 1: Making a bulb light up using a circuit!

The children explored two sets of crocodile clips with wires attached, a bulb and a battery pack.

The equipment was quite small so we needed to use our fingers and thumbs carefully to make sure we attached everything correctly.

Just look at the concentration on our faces!

We were so determined to make the bulb light up!

We thought about how the electricity flowed through the wires to reach the bulb.

We used the phrase "long leg" alot as we needed to make sure the long leg on the bulb attached to the positive side of the battery.

When the bulb didn't light up we needed to find out why! We did lots of investigating.

"It's not on the wire" said Elias! "The metal is touching, move it!" said Scarlett. "My bulb is flashing, I'm going to make a police car with it" said Jacob.

When we were happy with our circuit we made our designs for the bulb to go inside.

We created a police car, a Christmas tree, Knuffle Bunny, Chase, Flowers and lots more!

We even had a Superhero joining us!

These are just a few of our final creations!

They are amazing!

Next week we will be making a bulb light up using Copper Tape!

Watch this space .......

Please ask your child about their learning.

It's unbelievable!
