Easter 2019

Easter is an important celebration.

We found out why people celebrate Easter.

We talked about what we do at Easter.

A lot of children go on Easter egg hunts.

We decided we wanted to go on an Easter egg hunt of our own.

We thought it would nice to make nests to keep our eggs safe.

We decided to use clay as we know we can mould clay into a shape we need and we can keep it forever as it goes hard.

We warmed the clay up in our hands making it easier to make a nest shape.

We moulded it, squeezed it and pinched it.

It was tricky but we got there in the end after we used our muscles!

When our nests were constructed we were ready to go to the forest to fill them with natural materials such as grass, leaves, straw, lichen and fur.

We learnt that birds fill their nests with these materials to make sure their eggs grow and are kept safe.

We checked to see if the pond life that we observed last week had grown! We spotted the tadpoles. We noticed they looked longer.

We were so busy filling our nests with lots of different material. Look what we found.

Lily loved to put flowers in her nest. Theo wanted to fill it with dandelions and straw. Finn found lots of straw on the forest floor. Jacob even found a feather!

When the nests were full we were ready to go on our hunt!

We found lots of different eggs. They were different sizes.

"This is big and this is small" said Isabella.

"This is number 29" said Emily.

"This is big, this is medium and this is small" said Jacob.

"This is number 7" said George.

"I like this pattern. I like the zig-zag" said Keaton.

"I've got the most" said Jaxon.

"Look at all of mine. I've got lots. The bag is full." said Theo.

When we went back to class we exchanged the paper eggs for REAL eggs.
