We used crocodile clip wires and a battery pack to make a simple circuit to light up our bulbs. This was a challenge!
We carefully pressed the clips between our thumb and first finger to make them open, and then positioned the wires correctly before turning the battery pack on.
If the bulb didn't light up we had to investigate and find out why.
We had to make sure the clips were on the metal part of the wire, not the plastic coating.
And that the red (positive) battery wire was connected to the long leg (anode or +) on the bulb.
We discovered that with one wire connected we could touch the other wire on the clip and it would work.
"Look it makes a dot." Isla-Rae says
We liked to control the bulb using the on/off switch on the battery pack; we could make the bulb flash.
"Look at mine working. If I turn it off it goes off. Look it's like a light." Ivan says
"Nee-nah, nee-nah!" Georgina says as she comes to explore, she hold up the one that is already flashing.
"This ones not got a thing on (a sleeve). I can't open it." We secure it together. "Ready!" Aariah says as she turns the battery pack on and it works. "It's on me." She says noticing the beam of light on her cardigan. "It's blue."
