Eden Camp Trip May 2019

Just before breaking up for the May half term, we will be going to Eden Camp in Malton for the day to learn more about our World War 2 topic.

A letter will be sent out soon with more details.

Venue type: Outdoor

A visit to this unique and multi-award winning Modern History Theme Museum, Eden Camp, is both entertaining and educational, and will appeal to all ages.

Not simply another glass showcase museum, they utilise realistic tableaux, incorporating moving figures, authentic sounds, smells and lighting effects to transport you back in time to the Second World War period.

Learn all about rationing and the Save it Schemes, explore the inside of a U-Boat, and experience what it was like to be under attack as you find your way through the Black Out and brave the Blitz. There is an extensive collection of vehicles, planes and other military hardware on display.

Take a stroll through the Street at War, and take cover in an air raid shelter. For some light relief, visit the Eden Camp Music Hall and Puppet Show, or let off steam in the Eden Camp Junior Assault course (weather permitting), which is a 2-part assault course style play area, for our younger visitors, one section for Tiny Tot Commandos, the other part for potential SAS members!

On a number of special days during the year, Eden camp becomes the temporary home of a number or re-enactment teams, when visitors can come face to face with German POW's, British soldiers, an American MP, or even the great British Bobby!

Whilst many of the exhibits can be found inside, they advise that you consider your visit to be an outdoor activity if you come during the winter months, as most of the exhibition huts are not heated, so it's a good idea to wrap up warm.
