Last Day Party 20.7.2021
The children have had a blast on their last day of term.
Check out the fun we had:
Have a fantastic summer break!
BUSY BEARS 2020-2021
Sports Day 14.7.2021
The children had an amazing time completing the races.
Teams were colour themed and the children were very supportive of their own team. The buzz of cheers was fantastic!
Here's the children on their first two races: Running and Hurdles.
Next up Bean Bag on the Head race and then the most frustrating race of all; balance the ball on the racket!
Finally we finished off with Bean Bag in the Hoop.
Move it on a Monday!
21.6.21
This week the children had great fun trying out our new trim trail. It is really challenging in places! The children really persisted with balancing, swinging, and coordinating their movements to get across from one end to the other. Look at us go!
This week the children got competitive and had a first practise at some of the skills needed for sports day.
Number Day!
We have had a fun number day today.
We raised £18.50 for the NSPCC in the Busy Bears class.
Thank you to all those families who contributed.
It is an amazing charity.
We really enjoyed weighing and measuring all of the ingredients we needed to make cornflake cakes, although the best part was eating them.
They were yummy!
We took our time cutting and making bracelets. As we cut the straws we counted how many parts we needed. Oscar said, "I need 3 and 3, that's 6 altogether"! Super adding Oscar!
"Mine is a repeating colour pattern" said Anya. Super spotting Anya.
We tried hard to order the compare bears by size.
We talked about what the words small, medium and large means.
We played with our number jigsaws and tried hard with the dot to dot sheets.
The Busy Bears getting busy on Number Day!
We are science whizz kids!!!
We have been finding out about how things work.
We found out we needed power to make things work. Power comes from lots of different sources such as electricity and batteries.
We wanted to find out how to make a bulb work.
We found out that we needed to make sure the circuit was 'complete' to make the bulb light up. To make the circuit complete we needed to link together two sets of crocodile clips, a battery and a bulb.
The crocodile clips were very stiff but we persevered and managed to open them. We needed to make sure we attached them correctly to the bulb and the battery.
Look how hard we tried!
Once we felt confident making a bulb light up we decided to move on to bigger objects!!!
We wanted to make a motor work.
We used the same principles as we did when we made a bulb light up but used a motor instead of a bulb.
We made wings, fans and flags.
They spun around so fast!
We wanted to make our own toy and use a bulb to make our toy more exciting.
We decided to make an animal toy using a paper cup where the nose was the bulb!
They were such fun to make. We got very sticky as we added lots of pom-poms, googly eyes, pipe cleaners and feathers.
Finally, we wrote about our exciting scientific experiences!
Baking
This week the children are learning about weight. They used the balance scales to weigh out the ingredients to make a cake.
The children made a great attempt at reading the recipe, there was lots of team work and using one another's strengths and knowledge. Who knew we had so many bakers in class!
The children were very patient as they waited for the scales to balance. They showed really good understanding of heavier, lighter and used some great comparative language.
The children waited patiently for the cakes to cook and cool. Once the cakes were out of the oven, the children had fun decorating them with icing and marshmallow!
Next for the tasting...what do you think the verdict was?!
We like to move it, move it!
The children really enjoyed the PE session this week. Miss Lucy brought in scooters to develop our core and leg strength. It was so much fun!
Afterwards the children cooled down with some chilled out Squiggle and Wiggle.
This week we focussed on number formation.
Pond dipping
We had beautiful weather to lie on our tummies and go fishing!
We behaved brilliantly around the pond area and we enjoyed every minute. In fact, we didn't want to leave.
We used our new viewers to delve right to the bottom of the bucket to investigate what we had caught.
We used the photo cards to find out what the names of the minibeasts were.
We counted the minibeasts legs and examined their bodies. We decided we had caught a water beetle, pond skater, water louse and a water spider.
One child even found a ball in the pond!
Super investigating Busy Bears.
