We had a brilliant day having fun with maths and making buns!
We shared the book called "Anno" by Mitsumasa Anno. It is a beautiful wordless book picture book which tells a story over the course of a year. Each picture represents a different month and time of the day. As the little town grows we counted the buildings, streets, animals, people and flowers. We used an abacus to help us add up all the different things that were happening on each page. We then wrote number sentences to represent what was happening on each page.
We played with the Numberblocks and built really tall towers. We found out who built the tallest tower by counting the blocks, putting them next to each other and comparing the height. "Mine is the tallest" said Finley!
We wrote addition sentences using the Numicon to help us to count how many there were altogether.
We explored and counted the coins in the post office. "Has he got enough change Ellis?" Ellis then counted the coins to check.
We threw a dice, counted the spots and used that amount of hama beads to make a pattern.
We loved pressing the Numicon into the play dough and counting the amount of spots we made. We then matched that amount of spots to the correct numeral.
And finally ............ we baked!!
We weighed, we measured, we mixed, we poured and finally ....... we ate!
Our end results!
