Children In Need and The Tidy Team 2019.

We had a fantastic day celebration Children In Need. We raised a total of £17 in the Busy Bears class alone. Thank you everyone!

In the afternoon we were lucky enough to have a visit from the "Barnsley Tidy Team".

They brought in lots of Madagascan stick insects, Woodlouse, Tiger Cockroaches and Tropical grey Woodlouse.

We were all really brave. We touched them!

We learnt that the Madagascan stick insects eats shrubs, berries and ivy. Woodlouse eat meat, fruit and vegetables.

It was also intersecting to find out that Cockroaches split their skin and then they eat it. Cockroaches live for 1 to 2 years.

As we began to feel more familiar with the insects we felt more comfortable to hold them.

Our behaviour was impeccable!

We sat quietly while Chris spoke to us and we remembered to use our quiet hand when we wanted to ask him a question. We had lots and lots of questions!!

"What do they eat?" asked Jackson.

"Where do they sleep?" asked Izobel.

"What do they drink?" asked Ivan.

"How old are they?" asked Ada.

"Are they friends?" asked Mckenzie.

Finally, Chris talked to us about the importance of picking your litter up and how harmful litter can be to insects and animals. Ask your child if they can remember what the most harmful litter is to insects and animals.
