Welly Wednesday Worms

We joined in with the song Wiggly Woo!

We listened to the story of Superworm. You can watch it on the BBC iPlayer by clicking here.

We stamped our feet and used sticks to tap the ground so the worms would come near the surface.

We used our trowels and dug to find worms.

"Look there's one there, and another one, that's two!"

"There's one in the leaves!"

We were brave and held the worms gently in our hands.  There were lots of giggles "It tickles!"

We used our Magnifying glasses to look at the worms closely.

We compared the worms to our fact cards.

Did you know worms do not have lungs, they breathe through their skin.

You can sometimes see worms on the ground when it has been raining as the soil is too wet for them to breathe.

Worms move by wriggling along, their long bodies are covered in tiny hairs to help them move. We could see the ring segments on their body.

We think we found Superworm, looks how strong he is wiggling up and out of the magnifying jar.

We also had great fun on the mud slide, it was very slippery and fast!

We had so much fun getting muddy!
