Elder Beads

Today we have been learning about trees, how they have a trunk, branches, leaves and roots.

We looked around the school grounds and forest for an Elder Tree, with white Elderflowers and leaves that grow in pairs.

We used the fresh new elder branches to make elder beads. We used a tent peg to push out the pith in the centre before threading the beads onto string.

Look at all the effort we put in. We had to make sure the holes were big enough for our string. It wasn't easy, we had to try, try and try again.

We used the tent pegs safely, pushing them down inwards the table.

We used card, scissors and Sellotape to make a pouch for our beads.
